Another Successful Transport by Megalift Malaysia |
 PPG Member in Malaysia, Megalift Sdn. Bhd., has successfully concluded the transportation of a CO2 Absorber weighing 361.6 tonnes and measuring (L) 49.46m x (W) 6.45m x (H) 6.75m; and a CO2 Regenerator weighing 291.5 tonnes measuring (L) 62.87m x (W) 7.52m x (H) 7.32m. Both units are destined for a Urea Chemical Plant in Oman. Megalift’s scope of services included loading of the cargo onto their trailers using a trailer self-jacking system at KNM Gebeng factory at Kuantan and inland transport to Kuantan Port for direct loading onto the vessel.
The job was carried out utilizing 44 axles of multi-axle trailer configured to a 22 axle side-by-side trailer to give trailer dimension of 33m length and 6.3m width. A total of 44 axles were utilized to meet Kuantan ports requirement of a ground pressure of less than 3 tons/m2. The transportation of the 2 oversized units also involved police escorts together with Megalift’s own escorts to manage traffic. TNB staff were also utilized as high tension wires had to be shut down and a few overhead wires had to be dismantled and later reconnected. The transportation from KNM Gebeng to Kuantan Port took approximately 4-5 hours where the traveling speed was no more than 20km/hr. The transport operation was successfully completed without any mishap and within the given schedule.
