PPG China Ship Huge Ship Blocks

oks3.jpgPPG member for China, Shanghai Ocean Knight Shipping, Inc, has successfully concluded the transportation for total 9pcs (Total: 6,983.34cbm, 831.5tonnes) of ship blocks fm JiangYin Port, JiangSu province, China. The blocks are scheduled to arrival at a ship-building plant in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on 6 July, 2008.

Rail network opening up for turbine components

transgroupaerial.jpgPPG conference guest speakers, at PLG (Professional Logistics Group), has devised a transport frame that overcomes one of the biggest hurdles for rail shipment of wind turbines and has built a new transport service on the back of the innovation. Designers at PLG of Oak Park, Illinois, created the containers with interchangeable interior plates. These accommodate blades of different sizes and makes, as well as offering different storage configurations. That versatility allows for far more rail forwarding of turbine blades arriving by ship.

Transgroup Targets Renewable Energy Industry

Mr Stephens said PPG members TransGroup Worldwide Logistics and Rhenus Logistics had recently returned from the Windpower 2008 Conference & Exhibition in Houston, Texas, and had reported excellent feedback in regard to potential new business opportunities.

PPG China Deliver Huge Ship Building Blocks

oks1.jpgPPG member for China, Shanghai Ocean Knight Shipping has successfully concluded the transportation of 12 units ship building blocks. The total shipment comprised 5,560cbm-484tonnes from JiangYin port, JiangSu province, China to a ship building plant in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The largest unit dimensions were L14.2m - W18.4m - H6.1m, with units ranging from 17.7 to 68.5 tonnes.

PPG Pakistan Successfuly Complete NATO Airport Equipment

bluesea.jpgPPG Member for Pakistan and Afghanistan, Blue Sea Shippng Lines, has successfully concluded a shipment of airport equipment from Pakistan to Afghanistan.

 

The shipment of 100 units, totaled 1,500 tonnes/3,500 cbm and comprised several heavylift and over-dimensional items.

 

The airport equipment was destined for NATO forces in Afghanistan and originated from various European countries.

This wonderful effort was achieved in just six months after incorporation and we take this opportunity to thank our Advisory Committee, headed by Susan St. Germain, as well as our overall Membership and Major Sponsors for their continued support.  PPG decided it was timely to re-brand itself to better highlight and enhance its overall aims, goals and aspirations. The initial jigsaw globe highlighted how our members can solve logistics puzzles. Our new logo, an adapted version of the Plimsoll Load Line, is synonymous with innovation and safety which are vital factors within the project sector, coupled with our commitment to green initiatives via SmartWway, the USA EPA Governing Body.

PPG Passes 100 Milestone

ppg-3d-logo.jpgProject cargo specialists, Project Professionals Group, has passed the 100 members milestone since its formation in September last year. PPG‘s General-Manager Kevin Stephens said today from the group’s Brisbane headquarters that the PPG now had 101 member offices listed in 71 countries.

  

He also confirmed 90 participants from 60 countries had registered so far to attend the organization’s inaugural conference in Aarhus, Denmark, from August 27-31.

PPG supports SmartWay green transport solutions

smartway.gifIn a world first, the world’s largest and most innovative Project Cargo Network, Project Professionals Group (PPG), has met with the United States Environmental Protection Agency to explore eco-friendly transport solutions. Consequently, PPG has been accepted as an Affiliate Member of SmartWay. PPG General Manager Kevin Stephens, based in Brisbane, Australia, and advisory committee chair and Director of Projects, TransGroup Worldwide Logistics, Susan St. Germain met recently in Seattle with the United States Environmental Protection Agency SmartWay Transport Partnership to discuss initiatives that increase energy efficiency while significantly reducing greenhouse gases and air pollution.

PPG Cambodia "Ties The Knot"!

porpenwedding.jpgPPG Cambodian Member, Mr. Por Sour of Global Link Service, has "tied the knot" and married his long-time campanion, Ms. Pen Chantha on 19th January 2008. We wish Por (39) and Pen (26) every happiness and success for their future married life. In a huge traditional wedding, Por and Pen were married in Phnom Penh in front of 1,000 special guests including relatives, friends, freight forwarders, GSA airfreights, shipping line managers, port directors, customers and overseas guests from Thailand, Malaysia and New Zealand. As part of their cultural wedding, Por and Pen spent their honeymoon in nearby Twon, but Por has promised his new wife an overseas trip to Thailand and other countries in the near future. In Cambodia Global Link Service provides a wide range of transportation and total logistics services including air freight, sea freight (Project, FCL & LCL), coastal shipping, inland transportation, customs clearance and cargo door to door delivery services.
 
PPG Vietnam Help Put Out Fires!

vantagefiretrucks.jpgAs project cargo specialists, Project Professionals Group, are often called upon to complete unusual shipments for clients, none more so than the recent transportation of 26 new fire trucks for use in Vietnam. PPG member for Vietnam, Vantage Logistics Corporation, was responsible for the successful transfer by barge of the 26 fire-fighting trucks from the Rickmers-Linie vessel’s anchorage in Hai Long Bay to Hai Phong Port 100 klm from Hanoi for distribution throughout Vietnam. The consignment of 26 pieces, every one red and identical, will be used at different fire brigade stations across the country. Each truck was 7.6m long and eight tonnes in weight. The trucks were driven to the DP World Breakbulk Terminal at the Churchill Dock in Antwerp, where they were loaded onto the ocean vessel. Coincidentally, Rickmers Seoul was the first Rickmers-Linie’s “Round-the-World Pearl String Service” vessel to be handled in Antwerp by DP World Breakbulk since Rickmers-Line joined DP World Antwerp and Conti-Lines as a shareholder in the terminal on 1 January 2008.
 
PPG Germany - From Shipyard to Shipyard

ls_gastanks.jpgUnder the responsibility of LS International Cargo GmbH Bremen, 2 gas tanks were shipped by MV “Palessa” of K/S Combi Lift on January 19th 2008 from Shanghai to Gdansk. Shipment is scheduled to arrive in Gdansk mid of February 2008.
The tanks are for a brand-new liquid gas tanker being built at Romantowa Shipyard, Gdansk.
The dimensions of each unit are 37.70m length x 12.30m width x 16.00m height – 360 tonnes.
 
Cecil Moore Announces Retirement

cecil_jean.jpgFounding PPG Member and close friend, Mr. Cecil More, has announced his retirement. Cecil and his lovely wife Jean (pictured right), in the interim plan to devote their time between their 55 acre retreat in the mountains at Bushmans Nek, as well in their Durban home. 

 

Cecil is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (FICS) London; Graduate School of Business Programme for Management Development, University of Cape Town; Knight 1st Class, Polar Star (Swedish Award); and Knight 1st Class, Royal Order of Merit (Norwegian Award).

Beluga christens "kite ship"

skysails.jpgBeluga Shipping will early next year begin using a new multipurpose heavy-lift ship whose propulsion will be assisted by a giant parasail. The company said the ship, MV "Beluga SkySails", would be able to reduce fuel consumption 10 percent to 15 percent using a 160-square-meter sail. It expects to scale up the kite to 320 meters within the next year and be able to achieve fuel savings of 20 percent to 30 percent.

Bibby Line Appoints Quality Freight (UK) to Manage Vessel

quality_bibby.gifThe Bibby Line Group has appointed Quality Freight (UK) to handle the commercial management of the M/V “Hertfordshire”. Quality Freight is the PPG member for UK. The link up with Bibby is a huge vote of confidence in the Ellsmere Port based company and further develops its chartering division. The M/V “Hertfordshire” is a general cargo vessel of 2,500 tonnes. Built in 1995 in Slovakia, the ship is 82.5m long and 11.35m beam. It has a hoistable wheelhouse and is Rhine-Sea-Motorvessel, which means it can travel along the Rhine as well as trade at sea. Bibby Line Group has its head office in Liverpool but operates in locations throughout the UK, Isle of Man, Philippines, Australia, India, Poland, France and The United States. 
 
Quality Freight (UK) Invest ¤1million To Transform Docks

The company, one of the leading freight and shipping specialists, says the crane will enable it to handle up to 700 tonnes of cargo an hour compared to the current 300 tonnes.
