PPG Ukraine Helps Kazan’s Second-Phase Metro Take Shape |

PPG Ukraine, Alfa Logistics, has successfully completed the shipment of a tunnel boring machine (TBM) FROM Le Creusot, France, headquarters of NFM Technologies, to Kazan in the Russian republic of Tatarstan. Ms. Julia Rusanova advises the cargo landed at Rostov from where it will be onshipped to Kazan, where it will be used for tunnelling the extension to the Kazan subway.

Second PPG Education Program an Outstanding Success |

PPG General Manager, Kevin Stephens and Sun Communications consultant, Rodger Hall have just returned from Bremen, Germany, where they successfully concluded the second PPG Project Forwarding Education Course. The two-day course was held on Wednesday 28th – Thursday 29th October, 2009 and all twenty five students received a Certificate of Achievement in Project Cargo Management at the end of the program.

Port Corpus Christi & the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sign a Project Partnership Agreement |

PPG PSM Member, The Port of Corpus Christi and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have officially signed a Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) to move forward the construction of the La Quinta Channel extension. The signing ceremony was held at the Congressman Solomon Ortiz International Center, Tuesday, October 13. The PPA was signed by Port Chairman Ruben Bonilla and Col. David C. Weston, Commander-Galveston District. Also attending was Mr. Arthur Janecka, Deputy District Engineer for Project Management; Mr. Bill Wise, Chief, Project Management Branch; Ms. Cynthia Burke, Project Manager Corpus Christi Ship Channel; and Mr. Abel Deleon, Corpus Christi Area Resident Engineer. “Extending the La Quinta Channel will support the realization of La Quinta Trade Gateway, the port’s most important diversification project.” Said John LaRue, Executive Director Port Corpus Christi.

PPG Expands Membership Categories |

Transport equipment owners, operators and other service providers have been invited to join the Project Professionals Group following the overdimensional freight forwarding network’s decision to introduce new membership categories. PPG general manager Kevin Stephens said the initiative was discussed and approved at the organisation’s annual conference hosted by the Port of Corpus Christi in Texas from July 29 to August 1.

Second PPG Conference Swells with Southern Texan Hospitality |

The 2009 Project Professionals Group conference, which began last week, gave sponsors and special guest speakers the opportunity to speak about the Port of Corpus Christi's infrastructure and promote the local economy by appealing to shippers from around the world. 110 freight movers, ship owners and related industry companies from 45 countries converged in Corpus Christi for the five-day event. The event was officially opened by The Mayor of Corpus Christi, Mr. Joe Adame. |

PPG China "Chopper By Sea!" |
|
PPG member for Central China, Ocean Knight Shipping, recently concluded the transportation of a helicopter from U.S.A. by sea freight via China to Almaty, Kazakhstan. Ocean Knight submitted the most cost-effective and safest proposal for this rather fragile cargo which resulted in their securing this project. With Rotors removed, the helicopter was loaded into 40' High Cube Shipper's Own container and was transported from Arizona, USA, to the loading port in Long Beach on 19 June. The chopper was then shipped to the Boundy Station, Alashankou, Xingjian Province, China and arrived 7 July for immediate connection with the extensive railway system to transit through the Asia Land-bridge to the final destination in Almaty, Kazakhstan on 25 July. The project was completed in a safe and economical manner with zero damage to the chopper to the complete satisfaction of the client. This consignment highlights the diverse range of cargo handled safely by PPG members. |

Mohammed Osman Appointed Vice President of ACLA Network |

Mr Mohammed Osman has been appointed as Vice President of the ACLA Network. PPG and ACLA recently announced an informal strategic alliance to benefit their members. ACLA is represented in 53 African countries while PPG has 125 member offices in 90 countries. A Sudanese of Nubia origin, Mr. Osman is an engineer by profession. He started his career with Darka For Trading group of companies of Sudan who are members of PPG. Due to his hardwork, vision and commitment to the growth of the company, he has risen to be the vice-chairman and co-owner. His specialisation on project cargo handling and development has positioned his Darka For Trading Group at an advantaged position to provide services in the Republic of Sudan and all the neighbouring countries. Mr. Osman is currently in charge of shipping agencies and international shipping and shipping related business development of the Darka for Trading group. His position as the 2nd Vice President of the Pan African Premier Independent Freight Forwarding group otherwise known as the ACLA Network will surely move the network forward and will be an advantage to the development of African cargo and logistics industry. |

Quality Freight Group and TransGroup Bridge the Atlantic |
|
Quality Freight Group has played its part in the construction of the new 395million Euro second terminal at Dublin Airport. Working in partnership with TransGroup, they have overseen the shipment of 19 Passenger Boarding Bridges along with their component parts from Utah in the USA to the airport. The project began in June this year and will continue until October with TransGroup’s client JBT one of the world’s leading suppliers of PBBs. The units are 21m long, 3.7m wide x 3.7m high and weigh 28 tons each. The bridges were transported by road from Utah to the US port of Portsmouth, where they were transhipped under TransGroup supervision. |

PPG Germany, Karl Gross Internationale Spedition GmbH, have successfully concluded a major shipment of eight (8) Exchangers for the Petroleum Industry. Under strict delivery deadlines The order for Karl Gross Hamburg was Ex-Works Berlin up to CFR Hong Kong via the Port of Hamburg and faced two specific challenges (1) Careful handling with attention to detail and cargo sensitivities; and (2) Penalties for the German Customer if the overall transit time exceeded 30 days due to a contractual fixed delivery date from Hamburg to Hong Kong. |

PPG China Transport Huge Drill Block |

PPG China, Shanghai Ocean Knight Shipping, INC., have coordinated the transportation of one drill block from Nangton, Jiangsu, province to Yangtai, Shandong province. The drill block was an extremely heavy unit at 450 tonnes with dimensions L 25.00 m X W 22.50 m X H 9.00 m and was successfully shipped out from Nangton by a sea-going barge on June 24th 2009. The massive unit was delivered to the job site on time and on budget on June 30th 2009.

PPG Saudi Arabia Participate in 4th Annual Breakbulk Exhibition |

PPG Member for Saudi Arabia, Almajdouie Logistics World (MLW) participated in 4th Annual Break Bulk Exhibition and conference held in Belgium from 26th to 28th May 2009. Antwerp was a very attractive location from a shipping point of view. With the fastest route to Europe, Antwerp port is the 2nd largest port in Europe and 5th largest in the world, handling 189 Million Tons of cargo in 2008. Significant growth in the volume of break-bulk cargo moving in and out of Europe is a testament to the growing prominence in World Trade of the EU and the Middle East. The exhibition was attended by senior participants in the break-bulk industry. |

The International projects Department (IPD) of Almajdouie Group secured a significant number of major projects in recent years and one such project was successfully concluded for Samsung Engineering which awarded through Hyupjin Shipping Korea. This major project included the haulage of oversize & heavy cargo with a total volume of 6,122.355 R/T, with the two heaviest Reactors weighing 403 tonnes and measuring L32.89m x W5.81m x H6.10m each.

Port of Corpus Christi to Host PPG’s 2009 Conference |

Project Professionals Group will hold its second annual conference in Corpus Christi, July 29 – August 1, 2009. Members of PPG, with 120 member offices in 90 countries worldwide, agreed to the Texas venue following a vote at their inaugural conference held in Aarhus, Denmark. Port of Corpus Christi Executive Director Mr. John LaRue attended the 2008 Aarhus conference and provided an excellent overview of his organization’s capabilities in hosting a major international conference.

Seven Seas Shipping Co., Jordan, have successfully concluded their second significant shipment of 2,850.790 tonnes of Steel sheets Ex ABES Terminal Quay No 355, Antwerp to South Oil Company’s Zubeir Depot, Umm Qaser Port, Iraq. The carrying vessel sailed from Antwerp on time on 3rd June, enroute to the Gulf. |

PPG Shanghai member, Shanghai Ocean Knight Shipping, have successfully concluded of a major power supply system for oil drilling equipment which consisted of seven generator sets and one set of emergency generator & accessories. Shanghai Ocean Knight’s services included, but were not limited to coordinate transportation for the total 24 units (673 tonnes / 1,050 cbm) from Dalian shipyard, Liaoning province, to Yantai shipyard in Shangdong province. The shipment departed from Dalian on 5 June and arrived Yantai on 6 June. |
