PPG Russia Demonstrates Successful Links with Japan |
| Project Professionals Group member for Russia, Eurosib-Logistics, is developing strong supply chain management links with Japan. Eurosib-Logistics, has recently completed the shipment of a production line for motor aluminium radiators from Japan and China to the city of Nizhny Novgorod in western Russia. PPG general manager Kevin Stephens congratulated Eurosib-Logistics on the success of the 3,500 freight tons project, half of which were outsized and heavy lift loads. “The size of the Russian market offers many opportunities for the transportation of project cargo, and having an experienced member such as Eurosib-Logistics demonstrates the reliability and capabilities of the PPG freight forwarding network to assist clients with their requirements in and out of Russia,” Mr Stephens said. |

PPG Vietnam Handle Key Shipments for Vital Hydroelectric Project |
| PPG Vietnam, Vantage Logistics Corp., have successfully concluded the delivery of Hydroelectric Plant Equipment for the vital Ba Ha Project. This project is one of the biggest and most important hydroelectric plant in the middle of Vietnam, located on 15 wards of 2 districts belonging to 2 provinces (Phu Yen and Gia Lai). The project investment is VND4.275bil (USD252m), with 2 main generators each with a capacity of 220MW, to supply electric for a large area within the middle, north and south of Vietnam, to contribute in the economic development and livelihood of these developing regions. The level of importance of this project is so high that it was carried out directly under the special structure of Vietnam’s Prime Minister. |

| Over dimensional cargo specialists, Project Professionals Group, has continued its success in providing logistics solutions for the power supply manufacturing sector.Sahil Freight Express, India’s largest privately owned freight forwarder, has recently completed the transportation of two 105 tonne transformers to Iraq for EMCO Ltd, one of India’s leading manufacturers of such equipment. Each transformer measured L6.8m x W4.3m x H3.1m and was transported about 30 kilometres from Thane by road to the port of Mumbai and then shipped to Umm Qaser in southern Iraq. |

| October 2008: PPG Member for Vietnam, Vantage Logistics, has successfully concluded a delivery of mining equipment from China to Haiphong and transhipment to Thi Nai port – Qui nhon city. Vantage’s scope of services included Boarding Agent Services, Mobile Cranes and Door Delivery to My Thanh Mine, Phu My district, Binh Dinh Province. The overall shipment comprised 5,250cbm of equipment on board MV “Tien Thanh 68” which berthed at Thi Nai Port and successfully discharged all of the equipment 3 days. |

PPG Malaysia Loadout 1,200 tonne Quay Cranes |
| PPG Member for Malaysia, Megalift Sdn. Bhd., has successfully concluded the load-out of 3 units of North Port Quay Cranes at the IMPSA Yard at Lumut. Each crane had overall dimensions of L 120.0 m x W 22.0 m x H 77.0 m and each weighed 1,200 tonnes. Megalift’s scope of work included the provision of 60 axle line of THP/SL hydraulic multi axle modular trailers and 12 axle of Self Propelled Trailers for a work duration of 15 days in Lumut; Mobilisation & Demobilisation of equipment and manpower; Provision of 4 x 8 metre beams for loading of cranes at IMPSA yard at Lumut; and Ro/Ro of cranes onto barge. |

PPG Japan and Vietnam help to protect Phu Quoc’s pristine Environment |
| Recently PPG Japan (Allfort) and PPG Vietnam (Vantage) contributed their part in the protection of Phu Quoc’s environment. Phu Quoc is a beautiful island South of Vietnam, located in Gulf of Thailand. In line with PPG’s commitment to SmartWay, the United States Environmental Protection Agency, PPG members are constantly striving to explore eco-friendly solutions. The nature of the island is still unexploited, with its pristine beaches, laid-back vibes, golden-brown sands and calm and peaceful atmosphere. PPG Malaysia “Bridge Enormous Gaps” |
|
This project is part of the on-going widening of the existing Penang Bridge from 2 lanes to 3 lanes. UEM had contacted Megalift to propose and execute a method on how to shift 9 units of the existing emergency lay-by to make way for the new 3rd lane. Megalift then came out with the method of using their hydraulic gantries and skidding system. The hydraulic gantries would be used to jack-up/lift-up the lay-by off of its foundation and onto its new foundation and the skid system would be used to skid the lay-by 4.8m to its new position. The hydraulic gantries were positioned underneath the lay-by, 2 units on each pile cap, and the skid system positioned on top of the gantry.

PPG Sudan Ship Huge Engines |
After extremely short notice from the project owner, following the main contractor’s failure to supply sufficient equipment, PPG member for Sudan, Darka For Trading Services Co., Ltd., was invited in to rectify these problems and assist in getting the project back on track in accordance with urgent deadlines and time-frames. Darka was responsible for the handling, loading and transportation to site of 2 x 120 tonne Engines (Each L 9.60 m x W 3.50 m x H 3.90 m) utilising their own equipment and with the assistance of PPG major sponsor SAL on board their vessel M/V "Anngret" in Port Sudan.

PPG Ireland Ship Cement Block Making Plant |
PPG Member for Ireland, Quality Freight Ltd., has successfully loaded an entire Concrete Manufacturing Plant from Ireland to Colombia. The cargo was transferred to Antwerp for loading onboard M/V “Star First” on 28th August 2008 and is expected to arrive in Cartagena, Colombia, 11 days later, weather permitting. The cargo comprised 17 x 40' open top containers and 22 40' HC units along with 300cbm of oversize cargo. Overall weight 661.360 tonnes with the heaviest unit weight of 15.5 tonnes. The project was delivered on time and on budget to the ultimate Consignee Concretodo S.A.

PPG USA Plays Key Role in the Port of Duluth Minnesota’s Emergence as Global Gateway for Wind Energy |
| Duluth, Minn., U.S.A. – The Port of Duluth-Superior, which has been emerging as a key link in the wind energy supply chain worldwide, marks another milestone this week as the Dutch-flagged cargo ship Flinterland, loaded with 54 wind turbine blades manufactured in North America, heads to the port of Suape, Brazil. In September – along with blades, rotors and hub sets from other offshore destinations – these 37-meter blades will become part of the first units assembled at IMPSA Wind’s new $90 million wind generator manufacturing plant. |

Rail network opening up for turbine components |
PPG conference guest speakers, at PLG (Professional Logistics Group), has devised a transport frame that overcomes one of the biggest hurdles for rail shipment of wind turbines and has built a new transport service on the back of the innovation. Designers at PLG of Oak Park, Illinois, created the containers with interchangeable interior plates. These accommodate blades of different sizes and makes, as well as offering different storage configurations. That versatility allows for far more rail forwarding of turbine blades arriving by ship.

Transgroup Targets Renewable Energy Industry |

Project Professionals Group, will continue to market its oversize logistics capabilities to the growing renewable energy industry, particularly wind power, according to the group’s general manager Kevin Stephens.
Mr Stephens said PPG members TransGroup Worldwide Logistics and Rhenus Logistics had recently returned from the Windpower 2008 Conference & Exhibition in Houston, Texas, and had reported excellent feedback in regard to potential new business opportunities.
