In an extremely difficult logistical exercise, PPG member for Sudan, Darka For Trading & Services Co., Ltd., successfully delivered a 82 tonne mobile crane from Port Sudan to the Bisha Gold Mine in neighbouring Eritrea.

This essential equipment was very urgently required by the client and was the first equipment of its type to be arranged through the Port of Sudan with cross-border transport at the borders of Sudan and Eritrea.

The total route length was 800 klms of which the final 130 klms was pleasantly a solid tarmac road surface where dozers and loaders were utilised to fix and set poor surfaces. The overall delivery process was over a five day duration. The Ethiopian terrain varied from trending highlands, desert plains, terrain and flat-to-rolling plains. Darka has once again proved to be a reliable contractor to their customer to successfully conclude this urgent delivery through hostile and unpredictable terraine.
