PPG Turkey Transports a 12.2m Boat from Izmir to Yokohama

The Genel Transport Project Team performs thorough analysis and offers an individual methodology for each project. “Our experience in handling oversize cargo enables us to handle and transport any type of out-of-gauge cargo smoothly” according to Mr. Ozkan Sakar, Ocean Freight Manager, Heavy Lift & Project Logistics. |

Recently, Genel Transport successfully concluded the shipment of a brand-new boat (12.20 m long x 3.96 m wide x 3.40 m high; weight: 8 tons) from Izmir, Turkey to Yokohama, Japan. The boat was collected from the customer’s address and loaded it onto a hydraulic flat-bed trailer for a 100 km-long road transport to the port of Izmir. All processes including route and insurance survey and road permits were coordinated by the Genel team. The boat was positioned and secured on a shipping cradle, which was then securely lashed on a flat-rack container. Extra attention was paid to lashing/securing as the flat-rack container would be transferred to another ship en-route. The special cargo was successfully handled and loaded on the container ship destined for Yokohoma, Japan on a 50-day voyage. |
